The valley in the middle of Iraq is extremely fertile, and contains artifacts dating back seven to
nine thousand years. Sumerian, Akkadian, Assyrian and Babylonian civilizations flourished and perished in this

Geographically, the Arab Gulf is Iraq's only sea route to the world, as Iraq's Kasmandri coastline
is approximately 58 km long, and the port of Umm Qasr in Basra is one of the most important
Iraqi ports overlooking the Gulf.
The Tigris and Euphrates rivers flow from northern Iraq to its south, which were the basis for the
emergence of the world's first civilization centers on Mesopotamia, which arose throughout
history and over a period of 8,000 years.
Among the products produced by the Mesopotamian civilization was the Sumerian invention of
writing.
And the enforcement of the first written laws in the history of mankind, known in historical
sources as the Code of Hammurabi, and it is likely that Iraq was the world's largest museum.
The museum dates back to 530 BC. The archeology found in Iraq proves that even in prehistoric times, the people here had a
regular language, culture and religion found in Iraq. Iraq is considered to be the home of the first human civilization.
The ancient name of Iraq is Mesopotamia. But this is the name given to it by the Greeks, which means in Greek, between the rivers, since
this civilization flourished between the Tigris and Euphrates rivers. This is what we call the civilization of Mabin al-Nahreen or Bald al-Rafidin.
This region was the center of Sumerian, Akkadian, Assyrian, Chaldean, Sassanid and
Babylonian civilizations, which penetrated the rest of the world by 5,000 BC.
They taught the world to write, and gave the principles of early mathematics, philosophy and
science. The Akkadian Empire extended to the shores of Lebanon.
Lebanon is the region that created the initial letters and initiated sea shipping.
After the Akkadians, the Sumerian and then the Babylonian civilization flourished.
During the reign of Hammurabi in the Babylonian civilization, he gave the world the first laws of
citizenship.
In the 6th century BC, the region became part of the Persian Empire of Cyrus the Great for the
next four hundred years.
After which Alexander the Great conquered the region, which remained under the Greek Empire
for 200 years.
After Alexander, the Iranians ruled until the 7th century AD.
It has Kuwait and Saudi Arabia in the south, Jordan in the west, Syria in the northwest, Turkey
in the north and Iran (Kurdistan region) in the east.
It has the second largest oil reserves in the world.
The total area of Iraq is 4,37,72 km.
The total population of Iraq is more than three million.
This country is on number 89 in the world according to its area.
And according to its population, this country is on number 36th in the world.
Iraq officially consists of 18 provinces, and one region is the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, which
includes the provinces of Erbil, Duhok, Sulaymaniyah, and Halabja.
The national language of Iraq is Arabic, and the official religion is Islam, while Persian is also
widely spoken.
The currency of Iraq is called the Iraqi Dinar.
The education rate in Iraq is 64 percent.
In 2003, it was occupied by America which is still going on, though a nominal government is in
place.
The vast majority of it consists of Muslims, but there are also a considerable number of
Christians and Buddhists.
Its capital is Baghdad, which is its largest city.
Apart from this, Najaf, Kufa, Basra, Karbala, Samarra are its famous cities, which are very
important not only for Shia Muslims, but also for all Muslims.
